Apps and hyperconnection: why you stay alone in spite of everything

With apps and social networks, we can't count the number of messages we receive every day, but what are the intentions behind all these messages? What are the emotions?

The quantity of often virtual interactions perhaps betrays a real lack of deep connections? A need to conquer the world, without letting oneself be conquered: We want EVERYTHING for NOTHING, we want to experience great emotions, great thrills, we want to experience great happiness, but without opening up, without risk, without suffering, because we are afraid.

Decoding our relationship with apps and networks… why doesn’t it work?

1. The App Era: Between Connection and Solitude

Singles between 35 and 55 years old: a clever mix of professional, material-financial success, personal development, networks and social status, and travel and leisure… The specimen: handsome, brilliant, with the greying charm of the age of maturity and in a free body sculpted by experience and discipline, a valiant heart that beats wildly… but for whom?

Like the sound of a tree falling in the forest that no one hears, the "image of the successful forty-something" is alluring, but if no one is there to gaze upon it, does this magnificent image, however beautiful, truly have any meaning?

But in the evening, when you're alone, with no one to share a dinner, a movie, your dreams, your plans, your bed… we often grab our best friend, our phone, to go on the apps: social networks, dating apps… and we think: «Okay, I don't want to be alone tonight, I'll see what's on the menu…» and we spend an evening forgetting our loneliness and dulling our brains, scrolling… or worse, on Netflix, on a work file, or dealing with administrative tasks! And we think tomorrow will be different… really?

In this world where we swipe left and right like an Olympic champion of love procrastination, it's time to ask ourselves a crucial question: "What's the point of connecting if you're going to disengage before even the first date?"

2. To Link, To Connect, but Above All Not To Invest!

We live in an age where bonding is as simple as buying a takeaway coffee, but the emotional investment? That's a different kettle of fish! With our phones grafted to our hands, we send messages and thoughts, but what about our true intentions? As a wise man (or stand-up comedian) would say, "You can have the best GPS in the world, but if you don't know where you're going, good luck getting there!"

3. Emotions, yes, but not too many!

Ah, that sweet paradox of the modern bachelor: wanting thrills without ever having to face pain.

You crave intense emotions, but you're afraid of getting hurt. It's a bit like wanting to skydive while keeping your feet firmly on the ground. You want pure bliss, but you fear pure misery. You want everything, right now, without investing a single emotional penny. And you really think that can work? … Of course not, because the person in front of you will do EXACTLY the same thing: no investment, no commitment. A lose-lose situation, or at best a lukewarm, half-hearted relationship if you even manage to get and go on a first date!

4. The Value of Emotional Investment

So why should the other person even consider you if you don't give them a shred of attention? You wouldn't ask a Michelin-starred chef to prepare a gourmet dish without even giving them a price tag and without deigning to taste it yourself, would you? Absurd, isn't it? At some point, you have to ask yourself: are you ready to open the door, or are you going to slam it in the face of the possibility of true love?

Conclusion

In this digital age, solitude may seem seductive, but it can also become a trap. By avoiding emotional investment, you miss out on the magic of true love. So, are you ready to open that door, or are you going to keep running away? Remember: sometimes the greatest adventure begins with a simple "hello." So commit, invest and get ready to discover what it really means to connect. Who knows, maybe your next big thrill is hiding right behind your screen!
